Mind Your Mind

Three Secrets to Effective Affirmations:

1 Drive your Physiology – by this I mean get yourself into a dynamic state of mine by moving your body energetically. I find walking quickly, cycling or jumping around the house while listening to loud music, all very effective for me. When you feel energized you will put more enthusiasm and emotion into your affirmations and you will make a bigger impression on your mind.

Then say your short positive statement out loud if it is appropriate, otherwise shout it out inside your head where only you can hear it.

2 Create short statements

These statements will describe how you want to be and it is best to state these attributes in the present tense as if it is already true.

For example, *I am confident and appreciated by all* Instead of… *I want to have more confidence someday only I do not know when that is likely to be because I have a few problems to deal with right now.*

When you say your affirmation, assume it is already true and express this feeling as you repeat the phrase. This way you are programming your brain to find a way for you to achieve your goal.

3 Use the Ultimate Affirmation:

The ultimate affirmation is ideal for anyone who wants to communicate at their best under pressure. Here it is…

*I love myself*

I know this seems a bit far out. Let me explain. Let us pretend, just for a moment, that you completely love yourself 100 per cent. So this would mean you fully accept all aspects of yourself, your body, your bad habits, your personal limitations etc.

If this was the case, the opinion of other people would be totally irrelevant. You would then have no barriers to speaking at your best.

At first repeating * I love myself* is likely to cause you to feel awkward, embarrassed or just plain silly. If that happens you will know that you are on the right track because that is evidence that you are challenging limiting beliefs you already have about your value as a person.

For the more adventurous, try this in front of a mirror. It freaked me out the first time I did it. Although I soon got the hang of it.

Play with this approach to managing your mind and you will soon discover that the secret is to use affirmations with intensity. Enjoy your journey!

Making The Connection: Tips For Getting Noticed

Chances are that you have had a wide variety of experiences in your quest for meeting singles. These can range from an event that yields several nice interactions and at least one offer to get together for a date, to going home feeling frustrated and convinced you are destined to be a dating failure.

If you had made a note of your mood, your general attitude, your level of comfort, (and other related factors) after each experience, you would have some very useful information. For the attributes you carry along with you to these social gatherings will have a great impact on the outcome of each.

The following are tips for helping you to present the best you to others. As you read each, do a quick inventory of how you rate in that area. It’s always helpful to ask friends to weigh in with their observations. The more information, the better.

1. Present yourself as confident and in possession of a healthy self-esteem.

In general, people are attracted to those who appear confident and who feel good about themselves. Certainly, this is a turn-on for you as well. If you feel desirable and sexy, it makes sense that others will too.

If low self-esteem is a problem for you, this should be the first area you work on in yourself. It is not necessary to have over the top confidence, just a sense that you are someone that has a lot of positives to offer others.

Do some reading, take a class that teaches assertiveness and/or practice daily affirmations. Remember also that when you treat yourself with respect and adhere to healthy boundaries with others, you will foster a healthy sense of self.

2.Be Yourself

NEVER try to be someone you are not. Not only do you come across as insincere, you also will present as uncomfortable and make others feel this way right along with you.

Trying to be cool, aggressive, (etc.), generally just makes you awkward and unapproachable. Relax, be natural, be the you that your friends and others who know and like you, see and appreciate.

Think back to the times you have witnessed someone “acting” in a social situation, and the general reaction of those around them. Then think about the people you know who are good at meeting others. These are the people who present their true (best) side.

3. Smile and Show Enthusiasm

Certainly you have encountered strangers who were sullen and appeared negative and unapproachable. A smile can change all that.

Have an open and inviting expression. Make good eye contact. People are DRAWN to others like this. Let that attractive stranger know you are open to meeting them and happy to be there. If they have an interest back, this will pave the way for a first interaction.

If you don’t feel like smiling it may be a good idea to sit this one out at home with a movie or a good book or a low-key get together with a good friend.

4. Present Your Best Appearance

Always make your best effort in your grooming and choice of clothing. Attractive is just that. It’s not about having beautiful features or a fantastic body. It’s all about presenting what you have in the best light possible.

This also includes presenting an attractive personality. Be friendly, not pushy. Be open, not indiscreet. Have opinions, don’t be a know-it-all. Always remember to consider others’ feelings and needs. These interactions are not just about you.

5. Have Some Good Openings Lines Available

Hint: Natural conversation is best.

Some possible ones to consider:

*Do you know so and so?

*I noticed you were enjoying the music a lot, isn’t this a great band?

*Your drink looks good- what is it?

*I noticed you standing here alone and thought you may want some company.

Of course, the direct approach is ok too.

*Hi, I’m so and so, what is your name?

Remember that there are no rules anymore about who goes first. If you see someone who interests you, go for it. Just remember that they may not return your feelings. Then you move away gracefully, look around for someone else that attracts you, and make an overture towards them.

Also remember that rejection is part of the process. If you let the fear keep you from taking that first step, you will greatly lessen your chances of meeting and connecting with compatible singles.

Hustle While You Wait

Everything comes to those who hustle while they wait -Thomas Edison

Thomas A. Edison was one of the most prolific inventors of all time. His inventions continue to shape our daily lives decades after his death in 1931. He fundamentally changed our lives by giving us indoor lighting, records, movies, batteries, and hundreds of other objects we have come to believe we can’t live without. He patented over 1,000 objects during his life. His advice to “hustle” while you wait gives us some insight into how he became a legend.

Many people who dream of changing their lives are in a “waiting” time in their lives. For financial or personal reasons they are not yet able to leave their current jobs, move to their preferred geographical area, or start that business they dream of. During these waiting times you can do much to lay the foundation for your dreams. Here are some ideas that can get you started as you begin to move towards a life you compose rather than one you fell into:

*Research your dream job or business. Learn all that you can about it. You can easily become an expert about any topic in 3-6 months. Read, search the web, interview people who already work in the field, and do all that you can to learn about the history, trends and topics that are important in your field. When the time comes to move forward, you will have a solid knowledge base.

*Develop your network. Meet others who are in your chosen field. Nothing leads to success faster than having a solid support network in place. Don’t fear competition, just meet as many people as you can in that field. This networking will help you understand what it takes to succeed and give you the support you need to make those first steps. Nothing increases learning faster than having a mentor who can show you the way. You will increase your confidence and your learning pace, and you may even get “lucky” and find a job or your first client.

*Lay the groundwork. Write your business plan. Draft a press release. Outline your book. Learn how to design web pages. Any progress is movement forward and that momentum can help propel you towards the life of your dreams. As you develop skills and create the platform for your new life, new ideas and opportunities will come your way.

No matter where you are in developing the life of your dreams, you can “hustle” while you wait. Even if you have no idea what you want yet, you can create a foundation that will support your new life. No effort is wasted. The skills and knowledge you gain will fit into your new life in some way.

As I searched for my dream and mission I researched dozens of topics. I am consistently amazed at how many of those “dead ends” have helped me to develop my current business. Learning how to edit, write copy, design web pages, research, and even cook have all helped me to build a stronger foundation for my roles as a life coach and infertility coach. Don’t wait for the perfect time to arrive, begin today to move forward and the universe will meet you with more opportunities than you can now imagine.

How To Increase Your Affiliate Commissions!

So you’ve joined an affiliate program, but really haven’t figured out where you should start? Here are 12 great tips to get you started on your feet and enjoying the new year.

Here are 12 Awesome Ways To increase Your Affiliate Commissions!

  • Participate in web discussion boards and online forums. When I first joined an affiliate program, I read as much information as possible in the discussion boards http://www.sfidboard.com. This is a great discussion board to lurk in and understand the affiliate program and how things work.
  • Once you get enough confidence to post your own comments, try a forum more like a Home Business Forum. This forum lets you include a link to your web site and any personal signature you choose, but is monitored. I included my web site link under my comment so that other could click on the link if they chose. Best part was that the search engine spiders took notice too.

  • Advertise your link in your signature file with every email you write.
  • Use an attention-grabbing headline for them to visit your affiliate site. Also make sure your signature file doesn’t get too big.

Your link should look something like this:

    Jennifer Schilling
    email address here
    http://www.thinkingfaster.com
    http://www.internet-business-success.biz
    http://www.internet-business-opportunities.biz

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Why build JUST a Web site,
    When You COULD Build a Business?
    http://www.thinkingfaster..com/successsite.html
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

  • Your link should look like this http://www.internet-business-success.biz/free.html. By redirecting your affiliate number and making your address be part of your web site, you will not loose out on any affiliate commissions.
  • Create unique affiliate program ads and your own banners if possible. If every other affiliate is using the same ad you are using, many web visitors may leave your web site quicker than you think. Give yourself an edge over your competition, by making an ad that makes your website stand out from the others.
  • Use a personal testimonial ad. You should only use this if you’ve actually bought the product or service. Tell people what kind of results and benefits you’ve received using the product. This can be VERY powerful.
  • Trade links with other webmasters who are promoting the same types of products you are promoting. You want to attract the same type of people that would be interested in buying the product you’re reselling.
  • Some advantages might include more traffic for you and the other webmasters. Once your website gets ranked by Google, you will find more and more webmasters requesting link exchanges to your website.
  • .Create a newsletter or an electronic magazine (e-zine) advertising your website. Use your newsletter to advertise the affiliate programs you’ve joined. Or offer a free e-book in your newsletter with the advertisement and links of your affiliate web site. The free e-book should draw your target audience to down-load it instantly. You can also submit your newsletter to directories and start a traffic virus getting people to visit your website.
  • Offer free online services, utilities or useful website links from your web site. They could be search engine submissions, language translations, web site tune ups. Make sure that the service or utility that you are offering them is something you would personally use and is of an interest to your website. There, make sure to add as many of your affiliate links as possible so that people can see them and click on them.
  • Start your own affiliate program directory. If you have joined more than one affiliate program, list them all in a directory format on your web site. Advertise your free affiliate program directory to others so that they will want to be part of your directory as well.
  • Write articles and submit them to websites that do accept them is another great way to drive more traffic and increase your affiliate commissions. The MOST important thing to do is to add a “resource box” in the bottom of every article that you write. This has been used and proven to work by all top marketing gurus online.
  • THIS is BY FAR the most effective way to increase your backlinks!

  • Make sure you practice good follow up skills and get back to all of your affiliates within 24 hours or sooner. If you are available to them, they will want to stick around. You will be able to answer questions just like you do with your own affiliate mentors.

    Executive Coaching -The Business Benefits

Executive coaching is an investment for you and your business and you need to understand what returns you will get. How exactly will you benefit from it?

On a practical level, much executive coaching nowadays is carried out by phone, so there is no time wasted in travelling to meetings. A phone call can simply be diaried in for the home or office to fit around your other commitments. E-mails are then used to correspond between phone calls as necessary.

The relationship between coach and client is one of total confidentiality, so you can speak completely openly without worrying about office politics or watching your back. This alone can be an enormous relief from the competitive world of modern business.

You decide what our objectives will be and the coach works with you to ensure you achieve them. Examples might be gaining promotion or getting a job in another company or industry, improving relationships with colleagues and/or customers, improving sales and profits or finding new clients.

You look carefully at your goals before setting them, to make sure they are really what you want. How will their achievement impact on your home life and friends? Is the goal achievable? You will also agree on ways of judging your success ? sometimes it may be obvious, such as being offered the job, other times less so.

In talking to your coach and answering their questions, you will begin to learn more about yourself and how you habitually respond to certain situations. You will also begin to understand others better and why they behave as they do.

You become clearer about situations which have been problems in the past and see alternative responses. With the support of your coach you have the confidence to try out different responses, to find out which works best.

You will find that with the one-to-one support of coaching, your development is rapid and sustained. Attending a training or personal development workshop can be inspiring at the time, but the effect quickly wears off once you return to your daily routine. Executive coaching makes positive change much more likely to be permanent.

You find that getting results and becoming more productive is easier and less effortful.

And finally, you are learning valuable resources which you can continue to use once the coaching is over. You will be able to coach yourself!

Andy Britnell is an executive coach who works with businesspeople in both the private and public sectors who wish to achieve better results. Business Ideas

Richard Branson, billionaire founder of Virgin Records and Virgin Atlantic Airlines, may be better known for his efforts to circle the globe in a hot-air balloon than for his business successes. He suggests that “Being an adventurer and an entrepreneur are similar? You’re willing to go where most people won’t dare.”

But it is still generally accepted that entrepreneurs are skillful at knowing which risks are worth taking. “In everything I do, I examine the downside, the danger, what can go wrong,” says Branson. When he started his airline, he only bought one plane, with an agreement with Boeing to take that back “if things didn’t work out.”

Are there any safeguards against failure? No! Even the best conceived and implemented business ventures can become market experiments that simply did not work. Our goal here is to follow a planning process that can minimize risk. That is the best that we can do, and the degree to which we can enhance our confidence about a venture must enter into any decision about its pursuit.

The best approach requires patience, and to a commitment to preparation well in advance of start-up. This could be a long-range process of getting to better understand one’s strengths, weaknesses, and limitations, and setting about filling knowledge and experience gaps. During this period, we should constantly generate ideas with the potential of becoming real business opportunities.

Where do business ideas come from? The best source is what you know. Often, ideas come from work experience or from personal interests, such as hobbies; other ideas can come from friends and relatives, and our educational background. Ideas may be easy enough to generate, but an idea is not necessarily an opportunity! Building a “better mousetrap” does not insure success; other factors include fit, timing, and resources.

Jeff Timmons, in his book New Venture Creation, suggests that “An opportunity is attractive, durable, and timely and is anchored in a product or service that creates or adds value for its buyer or end user. Opportunities are created because there are changing circumstances, inconsistencies, chaos, lags, or leads, information gaps, and a variety of other vacuums, and because there are entrepreneurs who can recognize and seize them.”

The process of creating or seizing an opportunity is less the result of a deliberate search than it is a mindset of maintaining a form of vigilance that is sensitized to business opportunity. Successful entrepreneurs recognize an opportunity while it is still taking shape. This frequently relates to the prospective entrepreneur’s current profession or interests, where he or she perceives:

    * a process that can be more efficiently performed,

    * an attractive new service or improvement of an existing service, or

    * some business or geographic “niche” that is being underserved.

There are often localized opportunities, based on geography, natural resources, human resources in local abundance, and the like. Can you think of any for your area?

Once an idea is thought to represent a real opportunity, one must be able to research the market, know what data is important and how to gather it meaningfully, and know what actions this information indicates. This can then be worked into a rather detailed plan, and then refined into a blueprint for success.
